Leadership Experience
Global Leadership
Connection is an organization dedicated to putting youth leaders in
a a positive spotlight. The GLC Leadership Experience is an all
expense paid trip for the top 2-6 leaders from each area program.
While connecting these leaders from different GLC Programs, we
encourage discussions on leadership development, social involvement
and how to make out world a better, more positive environment.
Since the fall of 2008 the GLC Leadership Experience has been an annual opportunity for approximately 15 students to tour around the best of what our Nations Capitol has to offer. Travel to and from Washington, D.C. is all arranged for the students in addition to transportation throughout the city and hotel stays.
Over the years we have had the privilege of meeting Senator Charles Grassley, touring the US Capitol with the chance to view both the House and Senate Chambers. We tour The White House with Associate White House Council, Jason Green and visit The Pentagon. Nancy Winston, Vice President of Shared Hope International, graces us with a presentation on ending sex trafficking throughout the world. Other highlights include tours of the CIA, US Supreme Court, Library of Congress and a visit to Arlington Cemetery, viewing the changing of the guard at the tomb of the Unknown Soldier. We continue our tour to the many offerings of the Smithsonian including the National Museum of Natural History, the National Gallery of Art, the Holocaust Museum followed by World War II, Vietnam, Korean War and the Lincoln National Memorials.
Always a favorite, is our day spent enjoying all that the Georgetown District has to offer followed with a private tour of campus led by Professor Holst. After an in depth dinner conversation, our group sets off to marvel at the Monuments under the night sky.
Each year our agenda varies slightly due to availability however we consistently include as many memorable opportunities leading to a wonderful experience growing and learning in our Nations Capitol.

Reflections:
Global Leadership
Connection is unlike any organization I have ever been involved
with. It is truly dedicated in developing strong, influential
leaders, and giving them the opportunity to work, learn, and grow
with people that share the same passion for leadership as they do.
Global Leadership Connection helped me to understand my strengths as
a leader, and provided me with encouragement and motivation to use
those strengths and persevere through my weaknesses.
From the
leadership conference with other schools to the interviewing
process, and the award ceremony the actual Washington D.C. trip
itself, it will be a lasting memory I will always treasure. I was
very apprehensive going to Washington D.C., not sure of what to
expect. The truth is, once I was there, I was not ready to leave. I
developed a special relationship with each one of the leaders there
and we instantly became like a family. This experience is nearly
impossible to put in words, but in short, it is an experience I will
never forget.
I would like to personally thank everyone who
contributes to this organization and cares about the youth leaders
in the world. Those like you, who show their appreciation for the
youth, are the kind of people that make a true difference in the
world.

I am so grateful
for GLC and the impact it has had on my life. It was an honor being
selected to go on the Washington DC trip with the amazing students I
built friendships with. It was truly an incredible experience which
I will never forget. I had a blast, learned a ton, and came to know
people that I will forever stay in touch with. The GLC Team should
be so proud of the difference they have made in the lives of many
young people across the country. The time I spent at the leadership
Seminars was inspiring and unforgettable. Thank you for
everything!

Being a part of
the Global Leadership Connection was one of the most influential and
rewarding experiences of my entire life. Our trip to our nations
capitol was amazingly emotional and educational, and was an
experience that will stay with me for my entire life. The quality of
friends that I made on this trip is incredible, considering the fact
that I have only known these students for four days. It is truly
amazing what can happen when people with such great moral character
and intellectual abilities come together for one unforgettable
experience.
